Obesity could bankrupt the NHS
According to the recent BBC news, obesity treatment took up 9 % of NHS budget.
But, they warned this would rise as the number of obese adults rose from one in five to one in three or one in twoby 2010...
The problem of rising prevalence in obesity may get much worse,bankrupting the health system and leading soon to reductions in life expectancy.
Experts said obesity cannot be tackled by just encouraging healthier eating and more exercise and it was caused by multi-factoral problems...
I agree those reports and suggestion that we should understand it as global and more dynamic process.
They suggest some recommendation as below ;
1. Health check, including waist and weight measurements, for all school leavers.
( some experts insist ' fat police ' or idea of ' clothes phone line; Wow, it's horrible~~)
2. Stricter planning regulations to only allow new housing complexes if they have sports facilities
and green park nearby ; that's a very good idea ~
3. Fund obesity surgery for people with a body mass index of over 40
4. Tax processed food high in sugar and salt ;Good ~
5. Only allow new urban roads if they have cycle lanes
This is not far far way country problems, but global and dynamic problems.
