Of course, We learned this many many years ago when we're teenager.
But, I've realized and completely understood this question and its answer lately.
The key point of answer is ' Yeast '
To Bake bread we need some yeast and several hours of labor and waiting time to ferment ( or leaven ) but, to bake cookie or cake ( including many kinds of sponge cake, chiffon cake, biscuit, craker, etc ) need only eggs, butter, sugar ,flour and any sorts of supplements with relatively short time less than one hour.
When I was a middle school student, I hated and disliked the subject of ' housework and practice ', therewere too many items which should be memorized , there wasn't enoughtime to practice, teacherjust requested us high scoreofpaper test...
Well, I was a relatively smart student ^^, so I just only memorized, memorized repeatedly to achieve the high score, that's all ~~
These days, I enjoy baking time especially baking bread than easy cookie or cake.
Someone who knows and remembers my school period image and attitude maybe shocked and surprised by my blog....
There's nothing quite like homecooking~
