Over the last weekend I had to go to the Incheon International Airport two times in a row. Saturday morning, my niece left Korea for Michigan in North America so my husband and me went there to see her off. She is about 5 months younger than my youngest son. She might be there for one year. And my son arrived at homethe next daymorning. There seems to be various reasons to send their children to go abroad. Personally, my husband and me had been in the opposite side for letting teenager go abroad by themselves for a long time. The original philosophy has not been changed so far. I am still believing that there is a risk for young kids to spend their puberty in the foreign country without their family. There seems to be some critical period for everyone's life. I think the puberty could be one of them. Even if some conflicts are existed in the family relationships, the process of overcoming it can be also worthful things in our life. However, my belief has been faltered these days after experiencing my younger son's short trip and my niece's departure. In my older son's case, he has been studying for entering particular high school. In my view, objectively, the chance of it is less than 50 percent. if he failed to pass the entrance exam, he might enter the general high school. In that case, if he really wanted to go abroad for one year, I am going to think it over. Anyway, my son came back home safely and healthily.
